Core terms

Easy to Borrow (ETB)

ETB means easy to borrow: a broker regards shares as readily available at that time. Borrow rates are often lower than for hard-to-borrow shares; actual availability and charges remain broker-specific.

What traders should verify

Check the broker’s current designation, rate, quantity and account eligibility. ETB status can change with lending supply and demand; retain your observation time.

Do not conflate

ETB does not promise unlimited shares, zero cost or unrestricted short selling. It does not exempt an order from Rule 201 or other applicable requirements.
